Holiday Observances

U.S. Air Force Reserve CommandHere at Post 305, we celebrate our national holidays by conducting or participating in a number of ceremonies appropriate to the Holiday.  We invite you to attend and participate.  Please contact one of the officers for details on each holiday.

MEMORIAL DAY

While there is some question about the origins of Memorial Day, over time the day became one of remembrance for all who had gave their life in battle for America.  Often, particularly in times of peace, we do not observe the day as it should be, a day where we actively remember our ancestors, our family members, our loved ones, our neighbors, and our friends who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

Here at Post 305, we honor our fallen brethren by:

  1. participating in the Memorial Day Ceremonies at the Houston National Cemetery;

  2. visiting Memorials;

  3. participating in the "National Moment of Remembrance" program, held at 3 p.m., providing a moment to pause and think about the true meaning of the day, and for Taps to be played; and

  4. by renewing a pledge to aid the widows, widowers, and orphans of our fallen dead, and to aid the disabled veterans.

We invite you to participate.

FLAG DAY

June 14th, 1777 is the birthday of our national flag. Our flag has a rich history and each year on this day we remember the day the Stars and Stripes became our national flag.

Expert InfantryJULY 4th

As we all know, or should know, July 4th, 1776 is the official birth date of our great nation.  As veterans, we never forget that many of our forebears paid a heavy price, often the ultimate sacrifice, so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have today.

United States NavyAt Post 305, we normally participate in the annual July 4th parade held in The Woodlands.  We have our float all spiffy, flags waving and patriotic music playing as we ride along the parade route.  We encourage you to apply for membership in Post 305 or its Auxiliary and join us for this annual event.

VETERANS DAY

On November 11 and/or on other days associated with the observance of Veterans Day, Post 305 participates in a number of activities in the local area.  Members of the Post speak at local schools or other organizations and attend the annual JROTC Pass In Review at Moorehead Stadium.
