Fundraising Activities
Fundraising In GeneralMany of our important projects would be impossible without fundraising activities. For example, it costs $300 to sponsor a student to Girls State. Although we occasionally receive corporate donations, the Unit has primary responsibility for raising funds. Twice a year, the Unit runs a food booth in conjunction with the Post’s semi-annual Rummage Sale. Unit members volunteer their time to serve hot dogs, chips and soft drinks, as well as an assortment of baked goods. Proceeds go to our operating fund. We recently tried a new fundraiser, which was very successful. We sponsored an Arts and Crafts Fair in the parking lot of a local discount store, and had about 20 professional crafters selling their wares. We plan to reprise the Fair (at a new and better location) the first weekend in November. We are always looking for new opportunities to raise money to support our projects. Adequate funds and the active involvement of our membership is the cornerstone of our organization. |
